About Sharm El-Sheikh
Naama Bay is the walkable part with the older hotels, restaurants and shops; Sharks Bay and Nabq to the north are quieter and more resort-bound; and Ras Um Sid on the headland sits closest to the reef wall. Which bay you book decides whether you can walk to dinner or need a taxi every evening.
Ras Mohammed National Park is about 20 km south at the very tip of the peninsula and can be visited by boat or by road; Tiran is a boat day. Because the reef comes close to shore in several bays, house-reef snorkelling straight off the hotel jetty is realistic here in a way it is not in most of Hurghada. Water stays warm enough to dive year-round, with a wetsuit in winter.
