About Dahab
Dahab splits into three parts that behave differently: Assalah with the seafront restaurants and dive centres, Masbat and Mashraba where most budget accommodation sits, and the Laguna area south of town where the shallow flat water makes it the beginner windsurfing and kitesurfing spot. Distances are short enough that a bicycle or a shared pickup covers all three.
The dive sites north of town — the Blue Hole, the Bells, the Canyon — are reached by jeep along the coast road rather than by boat, which keeps costs lower than in Sharm. The Blue Hole in particular has a serious depth record and should only be dived within your certification. Saint Catherine and Mount Sinai are about two and a half hours inland, commonly done as an overnight trip from here.
